Study of Disability (SS, DV)
This class is Study of Disabilities. It is where we look deeply into what disabilities are, how people react or act around people with them, and how society should treat people with a disability, whether physical or mental. There are many kinds of disabilities that are either visible, and sometimes from the inside. There are physical disabilities, like missing arms, legs, or facial features. There are also "invisible" disabilities that are physical or mental problems.
People with disabilities are considered to be in a lower class than "normal" people. That is because they are seen as different from everyone else, but they are still people on the inside. That's what people don't understand. In fact, people with disabilities are known to be comfortable with their disabilities, something that most people are not willing to go through. What they don't realize is that anyone could be disabled at any time.

I chose this assignment because I learned much about a famous singer named Marcus Roberts who is blind. Despite his disability, he worked hard to become a singer, something that he wished to do, and is beyond normal people's expectations. The cartoon character was named Toph, from the show called "Avatar: The Last Airbender". She was also blind, and learned Earthbending, which enabled her to "see" everything by feeling the vibrations of the earth. It was very hard to find a web site that had the information I needed WITHOUT using Wikipedia. I managed to do it. I also found it quite fun to compare him with a blind cartoon character who shares a similar heart-felt story.
